Eric Holt-Giménez has been Executive Director of Food First since 2006, working with the organization on policy and education dedicated to “ending the injustices that cause hunger and helping communities to take back control of their food systems.”. He is the editor and author of many academic and public-facing articles and books, including Land Justice: Re-imagining Land, Food, and the Commons in the United States (w/ Justine Williams), and A Foodie’s Guide to Capitalism: Understanding the Political Economy of What We Eat.
Mudbone Grown is a woman/veteran/Black-owned small farm and food enterprise working in and serving the Portland metro area. They operate the Unity Farm at the Oregon Food Bank, and recently launched Oregon’s first farmer training program for people of color. Their goal is to “always honor our ancestors wisdom as land stewards, train the next generation of food movement leaders through farming, while building cultural pride that is rooted in food sovereignty”.
Headwaters Farm Incubator Program is a program of the East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District, designed to assist in the development of new farmers. The program involves leasing out sections of EMSWCD’s Headwaters Farm to motivated, experienced individuals who will use it as a launching pad for their own farming endeavors.
