Gorge Green Drinks August: Worms and Castings and Compost Tea oh my!

Date: Thursday, Aug. 12, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Location: Gorge Grown Farmers Market, Hood River, Oregon

Columbia Gorge Earth Center invites Gorge residents, business owners, government and nonprofits to Green Drinks, a monthly networking event for people interested in sustainability issues. This month, we're keeping it wholesome with non-alcoholic drinks at the Gorge Grown Farmers Market.

It's summertime, which is also growing season, which results in lots of yard and garden waste that could be converted to valuable compost for next summer's garden if you had the tools and resources to do so. August Green Drinks looks at some of the Gorge's coolest compost businesses.

We'll hear from Dirt Hugger, a new company working to get a commercial composting facility up and running in The Dalles. We'll also learn about Parkdale-based Alpaca Garden's compost tea. And Fresh From the Farm, based in Carson WA, will show off their compost kits so you can get started composting at home or work.

We'll convene at 5:30 p.m. (a little earlier than normal). We hope you'll join us to get your hands dirty in what's bound to be one of the most educational and practical Green Drinks to date.

Bicycling is highly encouraged! Parking is limited. The Earth Center asks for a $5 suggested donation to support what has become the place to learn about Gorge green businesses.
