Farm to Food Bank
Healthy food for every family
We work with regional food banks to help increase the amount of fresh produce available in food pantries via donations and purchases.
In 2008-2009, GGFN piloted one of four Farm to Food Bank projects in Washington State in partnership with Washington Gorge Action Programs with the help of funding from the Washington Dept of Community, Trade, and Economic Development (CTED). GGFN worked with WA producers to purchase and supply nearly $60,000 in fresh dairy, meat, vegetables, and fruits for distribution in emergency food boxes in both Skamania and Klickitat counties – an economic benefit for local farmers and a health benefit for families in need.
